AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who plays as a striker and captains for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. [8][98][9] Morgan was selected number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she completed her degree early at the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. She made her debut in professional football and helped the team win the league title. Morgan aged 22 at the time, was the youngest player in the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. In the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final game against Canada. She was second in the United States to score 28 goals and 20 assists in 2012. This made her the sixth and youngest popular player in the world to achieve 20 goals in a single year. The following year, she was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete Of The Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments in addition to winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
